Gratitude in my Heart
There’s something powerful about being intentional with the oils you use.

Instead of grabbing whatever sounds nice in the moment, I often choose what to diffuse based on the kind of support I want to create in my home, my body, and my heart. Scent can do more than make a room smell pleasant. It can become part of a gentle daily rhythm that helps you slow down, reconnect, and shift how you feel.

Lately, I’ve been especially focused on gratitude.

Not just the idea of gratitude, but the practice of it.

Because if you’re anything like many of the women I work with, life can feel full. Your mind is managing a hundred details at once. You’re thinking about work, family, meals, appointments, responsibilities, and all the things that still need to be done. When life feels that busy, it’s easy to move through the day on autopilot. It’s easy to rush past the good, overlook the small blessings, and stay stuck in stress without even realizing it.

That’s one reason I love being intentional about what I diffuse.

A simple aroma in the air can become a pause button. It can remind you to breathe. It can help you come back into the present moment. Tuning into your body gets you out of your head. And sometimes that small shift is exactly what helps you notice what’s still good, even in the middle of a hard or overwhelming season.

Right now, one of my favorite blends to diffuse is Gratitude.

I love this blend because it feels like an invitation. It invites me to soften. It invites me to notice. It invites me to step out of pressure and into appreciation. Gratitude, thankfulness, and a positive attitude are not things we can force, but we can create space for them. We can support them with simple, meaningful habits that help our hearts and minds slow down enough to receive them.

That’s what intentional oil use feels like to me.

It’s not about perfection. It’s not about having a complicated routine. It’s about choosing small supports that align with how you want to feel and how you want to show up.

Some days, that may mean diffusing something calming when your nervous system feels overstimulated.
Some days, it may mean reaching for something uplifting when you’re feeling heavy or discouraged.
And some days, like this season for me, it means choosing an aroma that reminds you to live in gratitude.

Gratitude has a way of changing the atmosphere, both around us and within us.

When we practice gratitude, we begin to notice what is already here. We notice the kindness of a friend, the beauty outside our window, a meaningful conversation, laughter around the table, or a quiet moment of peace in an otherwise busy day. We may not be able to control everything happening in our lives, but we can gently train our attention to recognize goodness. And energy flows where attention goes.

That doesn’t mean ignoring pain or pretending life is always easy. It simply means making room for both truth and hope. It means allowing gratitude to anchor us, even while we’re still healing, growing, or walking through challenges.

For me, gratitude has felt especially meaningful lately because I’ve been reflecting on how thankful I am for my dad and his beautiful creations.

There’s something deeply touching about witnessing the beauty someone creates with their hands and heart. It makes me pause and appreciate not only what was made, but the person behind it. The care. The talent. The time. The love woven into it.

Sometimes gratitude rises in the big, obvious moments.
Sometimes it comes through in very quiet ones.

A handmade creation.
A memory.
A visit.
A conversation.
A simple reminder of someone you love.

These are the kinds of things that can bring us back to what matters most.

And I think that’s another reason I’m drawn to intentional diffusing. Scent has a unique way of helping memories and emotions surface. It can help create an environment that supports the experience you want to cultivate. When I diffuse with intention, it becomes more than a background fragrance. It becomes part of how I care for my home and for myself.

If you’ve never thought about choosing your oils this way, you might enjoy trying it.

Before you start your diffuser, pause for a moment and ask yourself:
How am I feeling right now?
What does my body need?
What kind of atmosphere do I want to create today?
What would support me in this season?

You don’t need to overthink it. Let it be simple.

Maybe you want your home to feel peaceful.
Maybe you want support for focus while you work.
Maybe you want to create a cozy, comforting space in the evening.
Maybe you want something uplifting that helps you shift out of heaviness.
Maybe, like me, you want a daily reminder to stay rooted in gratitude.

There’s no one right way to do this. The beauty is in learning to listen.

The body tells the truth. And when we slow down long enough to notice what we’re feeling, we often become more aware of what we need. Intentional oil use can be one small way to honor that awareness.

You can even turn it into a gentle gratitude ritual.

Here are a few simple ways to do that:
Diffuse a gratitude-focused aroma while you journal in the morning.
Turn on your diffuser during dinner as a reminder to share one thing you’re thankful for.
Use it during prayer, meditation, or quiet time.
Diffuse it while you clean or reset your space and let it remind you of the good already present in your life.
Pause when you notice the aroma and name three things you’re grateful for in that moment.

Small practices like these can help you create more presence in your day. And presence matters. So often, the peace we long for begins by paying attention to what is right here, right now.

I also think intentional diffusing can be a beautiful way to support emotional wellness.

When life feels stressful, many women automatically go into doing mode. We try to fix, manage, push through, and hold everything together. But sometimes what we really need is not more effort. Sometimes we need a softer entry point back into ourselves. A familiar aroma can help signal safety, comfort, or calm. It can support a moment of exhale. It can be part of creating an environment that feels nurturing instead of draining.

That’s one reason I love natural living so much. It gives us simple tools we can weave into everyday life in ways that feel supportive, not overwhelming. Natural solutions give you side benefits, not side effects. And when used intentionally, they can become part of a whole-person approach to wellness that honors body, mind, spirit, and emotions.

So how do you decide what to diffuse?

Do you choose based on what smells good that day?
Do you choose based on the mood you want to create?
Do you think about emotional support, focus, rest, or the overall atmosphere in your home?

However you approach it, I’d encourage you to get curious. Let’s explore what happens when you become more intentional. You may find that this simple practice helps you feel more grounded, present, and connected than you expected.

And if gratitude is something you want to cultivate more deeply, consider what small reminders can help anchor you there. A diffuser blend. A journal. A quiet prayer. A walk outside. A conversation with someone you love. It doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful.

Let’s live in gratitude and positivity.

Meet Laurie

I am a loving, calming presence who welcomes women with open arms and creates a safe space where they feel heard, supported, and fully accepted.

I coach busy, stressed-out moms to break free from the patterns that hold them back from feeling confident and secure, wherever they are in their healing journey.
Many of the women I work with carry emotional eating, negative self-talk, people-pleasing, nervous system dysregulation, and disconnection from their body's cues. Real change starts with feeling safe in your body.

Through somatic healing, essential oils, and a compassionate, whole-person approach, I help women become calmer and more grounded so they build trust in themselves, reconnect with their body's wisdom, and create lasting change.

My passion is supporting busy, stressed-out professional moms between 40 and 60 who are ready to break free from old patterns and step fully into the life they know is possible for them.
